Here are some things I’m lovin’ these days….
1. Bloggin’. Who knew the blogsphere could be so much fun? Now that fantasy baseball is over, maintaining my blog pages gives me reason to get out of bed in the morning. Few things compare to the pure joy of having a comment left on your blog page. If you’re reading this, drop me a line.
2. LOST. This is without a doubt the best show on television. What the heck is the deal with this Anna Lucia chick? Where’d she come from? And the scenes with Jack and Locke are the most riveting ones to date. (How about a side conversation about why Jack pushed the button? Got any ideas, Taylor?!?) If you’re not watching, run, don’t walk, to your local Best Buy and pick up a copy of Season 1 on DVD.
3. David Crowder’s “A Collision” album. This concept album is one of the most eclectic mixes of songs I’ve heard in quite some time. Crowder beautifully blends diverse musical styles into a steady, yet unpredictable stream of praise to God. Unity in diversity…isn’t that what happens in worship anyway? My personal favorite: “I Saw the Light”, abrupt ending and all.
4. Playoff baseball. For my fellow baseball enthusiasts, I need not explain: October is king. But if you’ve never tasted the sweetness that is playoff baseball, if you’ve never embraced the subtleties of the double switch & the suicide squeeze, if you thought the only teams that mattered were the Yanks and the Sox….then I invite you to participate in the greatest game of all. Tonight: Halo’s and Pale Hose. Tomorrow night: Birds and ‘Stros. Be an American; watch baseball.
5. Olbermann and Patrick. I’m not stealing this one from your site, Scott. But what can I say? Keith and Dan together again. For those of us who can recall the Big Show, this is sweet medicine. How long will it be before Olby becomes the co-host Patrick has lacked since Dibs left? Check them out from 1-2pm on ESPN Radio.
6. Fatherhood. Everyday I’m amazed at how challenging and rewarding this job is. I’ve been called a lot of things, but there’s nothing sweeter than hearing those little ones call me “DaDa”.
7. Everybody Loves Raymond on DVD. I’m having withdrawals, but at least Sunny and I can ease our pain with the 4th season of this great family comedy.
8. Sunny’s cooking. After a two week hiatus, Sunny’s back to full speed and I’m the happy one! Tonight is enchillada night…yes, baby!!!
9. The Psalms. I never enjoyed reading the Psalms until recently. But as I continue to read them, I wonder why I haven’t fallen in love with them before. I find myself on every page. I’m struck with the immediacy of the Psalms. They stand as a cry for God’s activity now. I need to stop preaching a God of someday and embrace the God of the Psalms, a God for today.
10. The relationships I’ve been blessed with. God gives us community and for that I’m grateful.
Comments are addictive. It’s better than the early days of email. And right on with Crowder and Lost. I took a week off right after Shayla was born and decided to go check out the church Crowder works at (here in Waco). Tre cool.Lost is great. I did not realize until yesterday that the man Jack let die in the hospital was shannon and boone’s dad. Everyone is connected.I think Jack is seeing the need for faith (hence, the button push)
I joined the Lost bandwagon about a two weeks ago, and I can’t get enough of it!!! Scott, glad to hear someone else say that about Jack! I said the same thing to Jason this morning! I think he’s afraid Jack is about to jump on the faith ship with everyone else…perhaps Jason is afraid of loosing his shot at living as a skeptic vicariously through Jack???
Yeah, so I wish I had time to sit and watch a TV show…I wish I had me some home cooking…I know nothing about baseball…But…I am with you on Psalms. I love to read them; I feel like I connect with David’s thought processes. Apparently he and I have the same personality type. And I am with you on the relationship thing! I would not have made it this far through my week without the incredible people God has placed in my life. He leads, I step…it has worked so far.~Jenna
I’m all about living vicariously through others. I thought that was the point of TV!TH, I think I’ll have to retract my earlier comments about Jack and the button. He does see the need for faith, hence his convo with Desmond. But if Jack’s going to play Scully to Locke’s Mulder, then the show’s going to lose some bite. Dat’s all I’m sayin’.I am pumped about tonight’s episode. Looks like Hugo’s gonna get caught with his hand in the cookie jar. And what’s with Jin & the English? Craziness.Which TV Jack is your favorite: Shephard of LOST or Bauer on 24?
By the way, I just read that the teaser from last week re: tonight’s episode…the shot with Hurley drinking the milk…they say Walt’s picture is on the side of the carton as if he’s a missing child. Check it out.
Hey! Watch out for the spoiler talk!!!About Jack and Faith…I understand what you’re saying about the bite via Man of Science v. Man of Faith…but if you ask me the bite is between Jack’s version of faith over Locke’s. Jack is more like those faithful folks in Heb 11 who refuse to call the Island “home” whereas Locke seems content to pitch his tent and hang his “home sweet home” shingle.Oh, btw…have you checked out the conspiracy theories on some of the Lost Discussion Boards??? WOW! I thought I was into the show pretty hot and heavy, but these folks sit around and analyze every aspect of it all (i.e. what’s up with the antiquated apple II mini computer, turntable, and exercise bike setting right beside the modern washing machine and dryer???
Bauer hands down. They would drinking cocoa in Miami beach by now if Jack Bauer had crashed with them.
If Bauer were on the island, they wouldn’t have had to wait for Frodo’s pal to cap Ethan, that’s for sure. Although Bauer couldn’t go more than a week without interrogating somebody.
TH, you can’t be raggin’ me for talking spoiler if you’re visiting all the fan boards!Jack has faith, but it’s unlike Locke’s. To Jack, Locke’s faith is blind and unfounded. Locke believes in the island, it’s his destiny. Jack doesn’t share the same misguided passion, but I think you’re right, ultimately Jack will emerge as a character of faith. I guess.
i don’t know anything about Lost, but i do know that the david crowder band and shane and shane were in little rock monday night. and i was there too. it was absolutely amazing. they put on an incredible show, but at the same time create an intense worship experience. i’m glad to see you’re liking their new cd, Jason, and if they come anywhere close to Huntsville, i highly reccomend you go. and i agree, comments are cool. if only i would update my blog every once in a while…
Hey Bybee, quit fishin’ for comments and give me some love on mine.Jack is on a collision course with faith. It is inevitable. What that ultimately looks like is the issue.
