Bye bye BB

In an historic move, the Cool Papa Bell League has taken matters into her own hands. The CPBL (the fantasy baseball league I’ve been a part of for the past 10 years) voted by overwhelming odds this week to ban Barry Bonds from participation in our league. The one-year suspension, as proposed by Judge Kennesaw Mountain Markham, is in direct response to the published reports of Bonds’ steroid abuse in the Lance Williams / Mark Fainaru-Wada book In The Shadows. CPBL owners are not even permitted to utter Bonds’ name on draft night. Hey, if Bud ain’t gonna do anything, we’ll take matters into our own hands.

Now, if I could just convince the guys to ban TO from our fantasy football league.

A good move. BB’s season will be racked by oversight and accusations, resulting in overall poor performance.

I hope so, Ed. I wish he’d just drift into retirement now, but he’s been clear for a couple years now: he really wants to knock off the Babe. We can only hope he follows through on his promise to retire after this season, leaving Hank Aaron’s record untouched.

What about innocent until proven guilty? Are you banning the others under suspicion? What about Giambi? What about Tejada? What about Brett Butler? There is a proven cancer-steroid link.

No, just Bonds. Because we hate him.
