This week, I’m at Lipscomb University with our teens for IMPACT, our annual summer camp. Not only is this a spiritually enriching time for our teens, but Sunny and I always look forward to being here and connecting with old friends. So many of our peers in youth ministry are starting families of their own. Joshua and Abby Kate have lots of new playmates! Community like this is such a blessing. Keep us in your prayers. Have a great week!

Preach the Gospel, die, and be forgotten.
Our boys are away at “traditional” church camp. You know, somewhere out in the wilderness, no a/c, lots of sunshine and biting bugs. I think they all enjoy a week of spiritual focus – away from parents – no matter if its out in the wild, or at a school campus. I am thankful for ministers like you and Mike who are willing to take a group of teens for a whole week and try to convey sprituality in this immoral world. Kudos to you all. Maybe some year, we can join you at Impact!
Jason said: “…this a spiritually enriching time for our teens…”It must be the “Impact-o-matic” that does it.
Oh to be at Impact… sigh… 🙂 Well Jason, tomorrow morning I will be flying out of the country. I will be in Malawi, Africa for 2 1/2 weeks (with a day in London on the way!!). I hope to come visit you all sometime in July. I miss you guys like crazy! Hope to see you all later this summer!
Dude–where’s my t-shirt?
Jenna,You’ll be in our prayers. May He guide you according to His purposes.Scott,That joke wasn’t funny the first time.Mike,I’ve tried the Impact-o-matic. It’s not as disgusting as billed.Tara,You guys should come join us for a night of Impact worship sometime. It’s always a great blessing.
Jason, I’m not joking. I looked through my t-shirt drawer the other day and realized that I have no shirts left over from my YM days. I was momentarily saddened.
I’m sure the momentary sadness quickly dissipated when you walked through your closet and looked at all your pinstriped suits, preacher man. Just kidding. I think Johnny has a few “The Main Thing Is To Keep The Main Thing The Main Thing” shirts left over. I’ll see if he can send a few your way.The great thing about church camp is that I haven’t worn long pants or socks in 10 days.
That was the theme? Never mind.I don’t wear suits. And as of a few weeks ago I cut out the tie.
That was the theme of one of Johnny’s retreats a few years back. Ask him about the shirt sometime.
hey, i found your blog through my youth minister’s wife ashley mills, who was blogging with your wife! anyway i wanted to tell you that i was a camper at senior impact this past week and i really enjoyed your class! and i also liked the music you played at the beginning of the class. i can honestly say no other teacher played YMCA to start our their class.
I miss youth ministry. This summer I have missed it even more than usual. I’m so jealous!
Lauren, thanks for the comments! I appreciate you coming to my class. And thanks for the compliments re: my music. Feel free to stop by anytime.
