I hate baseball. I’m never watching it again. Stupid faith in my Yankees…sigh.

Sour grapes, my friend. It’s a great sport. I’m just lucky my team plays in the weaker NL. Firing Torre would be a travesty. What, does he know less about managing now than he did when they last won in 2000? In a short playoff series, anything can happen (just ask the Oakland A’s teams of years gone by). Torre’s a Hall of Famer and replacing him with a hothead like Pinella is insane. Just my two cents.

Congrats to the Cards, and it’s always great to see the Yankees lose. I hope the Yankees do fire Torre and trade A-Rod, mainly because the Yankees don’t deserve to have two great talents like that when they can’t appreciate them. Maybe the Braves could pony up some young pitching and get the Yanks to eat most of A-Rod’s salary (whatever is left that is not being paid by Texas) and bring him down. Move Edgar to 2b and dump Giles. Only in the Bronx would the best player since baseball’s Golden Age be run out of town.

Matt,If what I’ve read is accurate, Giles is already on his way out of town. I’d love it if he ended up in St. Louis. Actually, if the Yanks are convinced ARod has to go, I’d love to see him playing short stop for the Cards at a discount!

As a die hard Yankees fan, I would not be all that upset to see ARod go. But only because we could use his salary to pay for some much needed pitching…say Barry Zito? Here’s what will happen, they will exercise their option on Sheffield, but they will not exercise their option on Mussina. If they don’t bring back ARod, then they’ll be able to go buy 2 or 3 high quality pitchers. Losing ARod, who was batting 8th their last playoff game, won’t affect their dynamic offense, since all of the rest are still under contract for next year.If someone else wants to pay for someone who always chokes in the playoffs, and chokes under the pressures of big time NY, then take him.

I actually think they’ll do just the opposite. I think they’ll exercise their option on Mussina but they’ll let Sheffield walk. With Abreu, Damon & Matsui all under contract, there’s no room for Sheff in the OF and I don’t think he’s ready to DH. But Mussina was their most consistent starter all year. If they don’t retain him, he’d be pretty attractive to several clubs. They need to retain Mussina, ink a frontline starter (although Zito’s kinda flaky for NY) and shore up their middle relief. They also need to keep ARod and Torre. Lou Pinella…what a joke.

Jason glad you had a good sports weekend. I actually cheered for both them for you. BTW: The Gators are looking pretty good. Have you watched MA play? How is Carter doing?

I smell a repeat of the ’68 series. Cards Tigers
