I have to admit this does not bode well for me. I can’t remember the last time I was able to smell anything (but then again, I guess that’s the point).

Good point. I remember being able to smell gasoline pretty strongly when we’d stop at the gas station when I was a kid. Otherwise, I have no sense of smell whatsoever.
