Computer Problems

I guess this is what I get for deleting some of my links.

Over the weekend, my computer’s hard drive just up and died. Thankfully, I’d backed up some of my pictures back in the spring, but we’re worried we might lose some of the pictures of Jackson that I had on my laptop that we never moved over to the home computer. Also, I hate to think that I might have lost all my music, too.

Of course, I have my music on my iPod. Anybody know if I can safely transfer my songs from my iPod back to my computer? Any tips would be helpful.

By the way, I’m rebuilding my address book, too, so zap me an email if you don’t mind and I’ll be able to add you back.

Oh no! The same thing happened to us a month or so ago and the PC Tech guy was able to get all of the stuff off of the computer and onto disc.

Did we jinx you by talking about it???? Crazy!! WELLLL…if you get a new computer, DONT just plug your ipod in…unless you find the magic way…When we got our new computer i wanted to synchronize my empty itunes to my full ipod…but it synchronized my ipod to my empty itunes—yep…emptied out the ipod!!So…i keep hearing about how great Macs are…but the Bybee household hasn’t had much luck with the sleek white notebooks, have you???

Jason, I was able to add all of my ipod songs to my home computer with no problem. It will lead you through the process fairly easily. There is one downside: I lost all of my playlists and ratings.

Stacy, I think we did jinx it. I think I’ve found a guy that can recover my data (fingers crossed). But I worry about the iPod deal because of what we talked about. Scott, you were able to move your music from iPod to computer no problem? The research I’ve done makes that sound a little problematic to me.

We put so much faith in our computers…it’s so sad when we lose things. I’m glad you hopefully will get it back…and thanks for the reminder for me to get my most recent pictures onto a cd!

I recently went through this also. A lifesaver for me now is a website called “Carbonite”. Go to http://www.carbonite.com and check it out. For like $50 a year, they back up everything, and I mean everything. As soon as you’re done with saving something to your computer, it saves it to their network. Completely safe, 100% guaranteed. The intial save takes about 3 days, but other than that, it is instant.I also purchased software called “I-Copy”. I was able to copy any song from my ipod to my itunes. I too lost my playlists, which was a pain, but you can rebuild those, and in actuality, it gave me the chance to delete some of the songs I didn’t want on my itunes anyways.

    Yeah, scratch what I said.
