Bono on the Bailout

Interesting quote by Bono on the bailout:

It’s extraordinary to me that the United States can find $700 billion to save Wall Street and the entire G8 can’t find $25 billion dollars to saved 25,000 children who die every day from preventable diseases.

So true! Comparatively, it would only take SO little. The US has to come up with that much money just because people want to live above their means.

I definitely appreciate the sentiment, but this is a bit of an over simplification. Yes it’s a bailout for Wall Street but also indirectly for all the rest of us who would suffer if the economy were to tank.

You’re right…it is an oversimplification. But I appreciate it as a prophetic reminder of how much good could be done on behalf of the poor with a comparatively smaller sum of money.

Jason,Forgive my tardiness in noticing this blog. I agree with you 100%. Bono nailed us even better than Amos did in 6:3-7 with that inlaid ivory business. As soon as I post this comment I’m sending a donation to One.org.Be good to yourself – Tell Keith Hawkins and Zack Bennett I said “Hi!” – Carlin

Will do, Carlin. Drop back in any time, brother.
