Sam’s or Costco?

So our Sam’s Club Membership expires next month. Before we re-up, we’re wondering if there are any advantages to going with Costco. I can’t really see any. In fact, we’d have to drive by Sam’s to get to Costco. Anybody wanna help us here? Sam’s or Costco?

I can’t really say since we have neither. I have boycotted Wal-mart though. It’s just not worth the stress on my nerves! It’s like the possessed come down out of the hills at night and turn into evil shoppers. Wal-mart brings out the worst in a lot of people. Parents cursing and whacking at their kids, angry Wal-mart associates screaming over the P/A system, and why ours has 40+ registers when there are never more than 5-6 open, I will never understand. Our’s just had a remodel, so now nobody has a clue where anything got moved to, even the people who work there.I spend less if I just stick with my small, hometown KROGER.

I’ve always been a card carrying Sam’s member. However, I am in the opposite position as you are. I am closer to Costco than a Sams.We did a free preview day at Costco, and there are definite differences. Both clubs are more expensive and cheaper on certain items.Costco does have a much better return policy, if you’re ever interested in buying any big ticket items. I was told that if you buy a tv there, and in 5 years it goes out, you can return it and they’ll replace. Don’t know if that’s true. One thing: Costco was to Sams as Target is to Walmart. Its cleaner, better stocked, and the people are nicer.

I try to avoid Wal-Mart at all costs. The worst thing (for me) about that two month period when Sunny was on bed rest was the constant Wal-Mart shopping. I’ll admit, it made me finally learn the layout of the store. But every Wal-Mart around us is so poorly operated, it makes me just dread going. We make a trip to Sam’s about once a month. We usually stock up on detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. And when the twins started on formula, I was making a run about once a week. If Costco was definitely cheaper on formula and diapers, I’d make the change in a heartbeat.

Don’t know when we will make the switch to formula (hopefully NEVER!!!!), but I will definitely buy from the BIG store. I did my homework before making the switch to formula for Joshua and Abby Kate and Sam’s was the cheapest. Unfortunately our wallets took a big hit ($1600 plus) when we bought formula (and thats only from 4 months to 12 months). We also don’t go through the diapers like we used to with having had twins. I prefer to buy my diapers from the store with the best sale and use a coupon (can’t use coupons at the BIG stores). I usually come out cheaper that way.I don’t know who to go with.
