Next week I’ll participate in not one, not two, but three fantasy football drafts. I know, I’m a dork. My question for today is this: Who would you take with the #3 pick in the draft? Everybody with half a brain cell has LT as the consensus top pick, followed by Steven Jackson, who’s primed for a HUGE season in St. Louis. But the questions really start at #3. Do you go with Larry Johnson, who just ended his preseason holdout yesterday? Do you go with Frank Gore, despite the broken hand? Rudi Johnson, the Bengals workhorse coming off a career worst 3.8YPC in ’06? Joseph Addai, who ran for 1,000 yards last season while splitting time with Dominic Rhodes but now has to prove that he can thrive as the Colts exclusive feature back? Or do you go with the nearly forgotten Shaun Alexander, the 2005 MVP who was bitten by the injury bug last year?
Ahh, questions….
It’s probably a moot point, since I’ll probably get stuck with the last pick in all my leagues. But if you’re picking at 3, who do you take? And why?
LJ
He’s probably my choice if I pick at 3, but those 800 carries the last 2 years scares me. That and the laughable passing attack led by Brodie Croyle.
I’ve got to go with Joseph Addai. They try to keep a balanced mix of pass/throw in Indy, and with the Colts O-Line, Addai has a great chance to be a breakout this year.
I like Addai, too, but maybe not quite as much as LJ. This time next year, he might be the second best back in the game, behind LT. But until he proves it, you gotta go with some of these other proven guys. No love for Shaun Alexander? I thought you were a Bama boy…
Pacman Jones or Michael Vick. Those would be great #3 picks. The only thing laughable about Brodie Croyle is his name. Every time my wife hears his name, she laughs and says “Grodie Croyle”.I think Shaun Alexander actually will have a great season, but I don’t know if he’s a #3 pick.
I like Alexander to come back this year, too. It wasn’t that long ago that he was the consensus #1 pick. Maybe not playing that much last year will actually help him be fresh for this season.
I am a Bama boy, but he is just coming off of an injury from last year. However, he did play pretty well the few games he was in. I’m not counting him out, but we’ll see how he does after being hurt seriously for the first time. Some backs don’t respond well and get a little skiddish (i.e. another Bama boy Kenneth Darby). He’s still one of the greatest in the game, and I’d get him in a heartbeat, but I just want to see how he’ll respond.
i think i will go with brodie croyle as numero tres?
Brodie Croyle is like the JD Drew of quarterbacks. They should let him play in bubble wrap so as not to hurt him. Looks like it’s a moot point now that Huard is the starter.
